Frederick Douglass Stubbs

Stubbs Early Education Center, formerly the Frederick Douglass Stubbs Elementary School, was named in honor of Frederick Douglass Stubbs in 1953.

Welcome to Stubbs Early Education Center!

Creating focused opportunities for children and adults to join together and advance educational experiences intended to promote academic learning and families’ overall well-being.

Stubbs Early Education Center is a unique by its design. We are an early education center servicing
Preschool, Pre-K, and Kindergarten students. Historically, our district’s early education center only
enrolled Preschool and Pre-K students. Our school is a welcoming community school that provides
services for the entire community.

Our school is home to the Dual Generation Center at Stubbs which provides focused opportunities for increased educational, personal, and social advancement for children and adults through programs such as the Parents as Teachers Program, Adult Basic Education, WECEC, Department of Labor, $tand by Me, Delaware Guidance, Children & Families First, Nemours Wellness Center, housing assistance, food pantry, and clothes closet.

connections. The culture and climate of Stubbs EEC is one of support and connectedness.

Early Education Center

Stubbs Early Education Center will build on its reputation as a school that serves the community by transforming into a community-focused resource center providing quality early education services for children from birth through Kindergarten.

Dual Generation Center

The Dual Generation Center at Stubbs offers opportunities for adults in parenting skills, literacy, financial education, GED preparation, and job training. The Center will also house state services from the Department of Health and Social Services, the Department of Labor, and the Department of Services for Children, Youth and their Families.

Stubbs Excellence

Stubbs Early Education Center takes immense pride in its legacy of strong leadership, guided by outstanding administrators recognized with honors such as the Women Leading Delaware Education Award and lead speaker at the National ESEA Conferences.These honors highlight the school's commitment to comprehensive student support, fostering positive behavior, and creating a safe, nurturing environment.
